Description
A simple, 5-ingredient weeknight cookie recipe that requires no mixer and delivers chewy, caramelized perfection in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups (120g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine softened butter and packed brown sugar. Mix vigorously with a wooden spoon until smooth and combined, resembling wet sand.
- Add rolled oats, flour, baking powder, and salt to the bowl. Stir until a thick, cohesive dough forms with no dry flour spots.
- Fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers still look soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes to set, then transfer to a wire rack or plate.
Notes
For best chewiness, do not overbake; remove when centers look soft. Store in an airtight container at room temperature with a slice of bread to maintain softness. Dough can be frozen for later baking.
