  • Author: Lilya
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy 15-minute appetizer featuring crispy, air-fried shrimp coated in a spicy, sweet, and creamy Bang Bang sauce, offering restaurant-quality flavor without the grease.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds large shrimp (2125 count), peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup Sriracha
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Thaw frozen shrimp if necessary by soaking in cold water for 10 minutes, then pat completely dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour and salt/pepper, one with whisked eggs and milk, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in flour, dip in egg wash, then press into panko to coat evenly.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  6. Place shrimp in a single layer in the basket (cook in batches if needed) and spray tops lightly with oil.
  7. Cook for 4 minutes, flip shrimp, spray other side, and cook for another 4-6 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. While shrimp cook, whisk together mayonnaise, Sriracha, sweet chili sauce, lime juice, sugar, and garlic to make the sauce.
  9. Transfer cooked shrimp to a serving platter, drizzle with sauce, and garnish with green onions, cilantro, and sesame seeds.
  10. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Notes

Pat shrimp dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. The sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 5 days. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free panko and flour. For a dairy-free/vegan version, use dairy-free mayonnaise.
