Description
A cozy, 5-minute autumn cocktail featuring bourbon, apple cider, ginger beer, and salted caramel, finished with a cinnamon sugar rim.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups (480ml) refrigerated apple cider
- 1 bottle (355ml) dry spicy ginger beer
- 2–3 ounces (60-90ml) bourbon or rye whiskey
- 2–3 tablespoons (30-45ml) salted caramel sauce
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 2 tablespoons (20g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 lemon wedge
- Ice cubes (large preferred)
- Optional garnish: apple slice, cinnamon stick, or rosemary sprig
Instructions
- Mix cinnamon and sugar on a small plate.
- Moisten the rim of a mug or glass with a lemon wedge, then dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture to rim the glass.
- Pour salted caramel sauce into the bottom of the glass. If thick, microwave for 10 seconds to warm. Add a pinch of sea salt.
- Pour in the bourbon or whiskey and stir gently to combine with the caramel.
- Add the apple cider and stir to combine. Adjust sweetness or strength by adding more cider if needed.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Slowly pour the ginger beer over the ice to top off the drink.
- Stir gently one last time and garnish with a cinnamon stick, apple slice, or rosemary sprig. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use dry, spicy ginger beer rather than ginger ale for authentic flavor. Warm the caramel sauce slightly to ensure it mixes easily. For parties, pre-mix the cider, whiskey, and caramel base in a pitcher and store in the fridge for up to 2 days; add ginger beer and ice just before serving to maintain carbonation.
