Description
A simple, refreshing, and lightly herbal sparkling lemonade made with fresh strawberries, basil, lemon juice, and sparkling water. Perfect for hot summer days and casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pint fresh strawberries (about 300g)
- 10–12 fresh basil leaves
- ½ cup fresh lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons, 120ml)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (100g) or honey/agave syrup to taste
- 4 cups sparkling water (960ml)
- Ice
- Optional: lemon slices and basil sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Wash strawberries and basil leaves thoroughly. Hull the strawberries. Juice lemons to yield about ½ cup fresh lemon juice. Set aside.
- In a blender or food processor, combine strawberries, basil leaves, and sugar. Blend until smooth.
- (Optional) Pour the puree through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove seeds and pulp, pressing with a spoon.
- Add fresh lemon juice to the pitcher and stir well.
- Slowly add sparkling water to the pitcher just before serving and stir gently to combine.
- Fill glasses with ice, pour lemonade over, and garnish with lemon slices and basil sprigs. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use ripe strawberries for best flavor. Adjust sweetness to taste. Add sparkling water last to keep fizz. Serve immediately for best freshness and carbonation. Leftover puree can be frozen in ice cube trays for later use.
